Summer Highlights

Fall is in the air, and while my posts usually highlight the fun we're having at Jazzercise, I thought I'd include some photos of other fun stuff this summer.

We kicked off the summer with a bang this past Memorial Day celebrating with my Nanny in Virginia. Here Nanny is posing with me and my cousins Lisa, Carol and Mary Ann posing at her 102nd Birthday Party!
Then I headed down south again in July to participate in my friend Beth's bridal shower. Here is Beth's mom Maryann and I catching up at the shower.

What a great weekend we had together. I can't wait for the wedding this fall.
Beth is my OLDEST friend (since we were in kindergarten together at age 4!)

Also in July, my nephew Landon Vance Hallett made an early entrance. I'm practicing being Auntie Kristen. He's tiny in this picture, but growing like a weed.

My dear friend Melissa came to from Raleigh, NC a few weeks later and we had a girl's day at the pool at Liz's gorgeous home. Well, the girls and at least seven lively kids. It was great to catch up with them (Deb, Kim, me, Liz & Melis). Liz is keeping busy with her new store Newbury Place in Southbury. It is an awesome gift shop so if you're in the area check it out! I will definitely be making a trip back there for holiday shopping!!!

Well, after our BIG surfing adventure (see our surfing photos on earlier blog post), Pina decided to hit the golf course. Now I've been getting in a lot of golf this summer, but it was Pina's first time out. She took to it like a pro and we're already planning our next golf trip.

At least we LOOK like golfers here, right?

The tournament was to raise money for breast cancer research.
As a bonus, we met two time Superbowl champion, Leonard Marshall from the New York Giants. Turns out he's pretty good at golf too. But we held our own scoring a 79 in the scramble format. Way to go!!!

I was able to take a final break before Labor Day and headed to the Berkshires to Kirpalu. I make a point to visit every year (although twice a year sounds even better!)

It was a beautiful, relaxing time and I highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for some R&R (www.kripalu.com). Aside from yoga, which they have ALOT of, I went kayaking, pole hiking and enjoyed the fabulous scenery.

Now it's time to kick it into gear for the fall. There's so much good stuff coming so be sure to check our website regularly.

Happy Fall!
K

PS and one more shot of Landon of course!

Birthday Celebration

Eleanor & Pam hosted the 2nd Annual Birthday Celebration with lots of enthusiasm and fun!

Each routine featured a month and they invited those who were born in that month to come up to the stage and to dance with them.

Scroll down to see some of the months.....

Paula and Michelle are smiling December babies.

The celebration was for everyone...and you can see they're working hard in anticipation of some birthday cake afterwards.

Watch out for those September Virgos!
Representing November - Mary & Laura

January Babies!

August Birthday Girls

Eleanor's got disco fever!

Mary & Queenie have their hats on and are ready to rock!

The party was complete with fun prizes and delicious birthday cake.

A job well done by Eleanor & Pam!!!!

Then after the birthday celebration....we were on the road to New Jersey to visit little Landon.
Here he is posing in his Steeler jersey

(it's never to early to have Steeler apparel in our family!)
He's getting ready for the pre-season games.

Surf's Up

I'm always up for a challenge.....especially when it involves something new.....so I decided to hit the surf in Long Beach, Long Island with nine other fabulous women, including my buddy Pina.

After we arrived we had some instruction on the beach.

Our instructors from
Surf to Live (check them out at www.surftolive.com) were great

Hey she's up!!!

Then we were off! Pina sure looks determined here!

Here's Tracy & Andrea from My Time for Me, LLC, our hosts for the outing.
Go to their webiste www.mytimeforme.com to see the other fun stuff they have planned.

They believe women should take time for themselves and organize interesting and cool events for women.

After we finished we enjoyed a wonderful clambake on the beach.

By the end of the evening, each of us had gotten up on our boards at least once. We were proud of ourselves for attempting this demanding, but exhilarating physical challenge.

Hang ten!

Summer Staff Outing 2007

We kicked off our Summer Staff Outing at Roberto's in New Haven.

Roberto was happy to have such a lovely group of women dining at his restaurant, so he gave us a nice room of our own.

You can check it out for yourself at....
Roberto's
418 State St

New Haven, CT 06510
(203) 562-9957

We toasted to a wonderful year and welcomed our newest instructors to the team.

Then it was on to see Dancing with the Stars at the Harboryard Arena

The show was wonderful....I think Apollo was a favorite!
This group cleans up pretty darn good!
And it was a treat to have everyone together for a night of fun, celebration and to watch someone else do the dancing for a change!!

Beach Party

We celebrated the half way point of our
Splash into Summer promotion
with a Beach Party!

And what fun we had!!

Ginny's ready to soak up the sun!

Lynne the lifeguard is ready for action! She won the prize for 'most creative' .

Liz is showing off her patriotic bikini!

Pina gets the crowd groovin' to the sounds of the Beach Boys.

Well, it's not teeny weeny yellow polka dots -- but Joy looks great in her colorful polka dots! And Gloria brightens up the room even more right behind Joy.

Eleanor works the deltoids to the tune of Blue Skies with her bushy blond hair do. Not sure if she looks more like Dolly Parton or Rod Stewart .

Nancy stole the show winning "most ready for the beach." She looked so comfy we weren't sure if she was going to workout or watch!

Millie & Mirella are ready for some sun!
Two bathing beauties catch some rays while we work out.
Mirella was our winner for the prettiest beach outfit.
Stephanie and MacKenzie join mom on stage for a Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride. They performed the Juniors version of the routine.
But our favorite was Millie who won the sexiest beach outfit. YOU GO GIRL!!

A good time was had by all....thanks to Pina, Pam, Eleanor, Beth and Beth's daughter's Stephanie & Mackenzie who helped to put it all together.
But most of all thanks to our customers whose lively spirits and clever costumes made it so much fun.

As they say....
"You don't stop playing because you get old, you get old because you stop playing."

Go out & play today!!
